Volunteering at Park Avenue

Park Avenue staff rely on volunteers for chaperoning field trips, running events at Field Day, helping with literacy activities, organizing classroom celebrations, maintaining the garden and more. Working together, we can continue to make Park Avenue a school that students are excited to attend and . There are lots of ways to help, either on a one-time basis or as an ongoing scheduled routine.

Here are some ideas for volunteering: If you are interested in helping in a particular classroom, contact that teacher. Field Day and Jump Rope for Heart are annual activities organized by Ms. Stewart. The Reading Challenge is organized by Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Hurt; prizes are awarded four times each year. Mrs. Cullison has taken the lead on the World Garden and is working with several homerooms and Mrs. Warner-Blankenship to develop a beautiful and colorful urban oasis.  A few volunteers assisting with Picture Days as the kids before they go in front of the camera will ensure bright smiles and grandmother-pleasing photos. Scholastic Book Fairs are a great way to get involved for just a few hours a year, while making a big impact on fundraising.

Collecting Box Tops for Education, pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House or plastic bread tags (for use as temporary fixes for broken flip-flops) does not require completing the Volunteer Application, but will make a difference here at Park Avenue.

If you are interested in donating your time and talents to the school, please complete the Volunteer Application and let us know when your application has been processed.
