Park Avenue Elementary School will soon be home to a new playground. The old one was destroyed by arson in the Spring. The two-man construction crew plans to have the more than 500 pieces and 800 pounds of bolts assembled by the end of next week. Click the image to read more and see photos of the progress.
Students at 35 Des Moines schools and three learning centers can now eat breakfast and lunch at no cost because of a special U.S. Dept. of Agriculture program targeting high poverty schools throughout the U.S. The move will ensure students are focused on learning and not on hunger.
