Des Moines Public Schools has been monitoring the current weather situation here in central Iowa. Due to the blizzard warning and forecast for snow and wind beginning this afternoon, all DMPS schools will dismiss 90 minutes early and all after-school and evening activities are cancelled.

It’s been more than 25 years since DMPS made comprehensive changes to elementary school attendance areas. Due to the forecast for extreme low temperatures continuing through tomorrow, and the wind chill warning in effect from the National Weather Service, classes at Des Moines Public Schools are cancelled for Monday, January 6. DMPS offices will be open.
